Rila is the highest mountain in Bulgaria and Balkan Peninsula. Most of high peaks are about 2500 - 2700 m above sea level a.s.l. some of them have alpine look Maljovice (2730)m a.s.l and its ridge, others are high-mountain meadows (mostly in Eastern Rila). Several peaks are higher - 2800 - 2900 m. a.s.l Mussala peak with its 2935.40m a.s.l is the highest point of the mountain. Little Mussala (2902m) and Irechek (2852m) are next to it. The mountain is divided to four main parts by deep glacier-made valleys. These are the valleys of Iskar Rivers, Rilska River, and Maritsa River. Other beautiful pieces of this mountain are its eyes –glacier lakes
Pirin is most beautiful mountain in my country. It is southern neighbour is Rila mountain. The north part is a high ridge with north-west to south-east orientation. It begins with Pirin peak high about 2550m. a.s.l Going to South, one passes several other peaks and step-by-step climbs up to 2800 m a.s.l. This is exceptionally beautiful Karst ridge of Pirin. There are passes as narrow as 1 meter on the ridge. The peaks here are Kamenitsa (2720m) a.s.l, Bajuvi Dupki (2820m) a.s.l, Banski Suhpdol (2882m), Kutelo (2908m) a.s.l. Next peak is Vihren (the highest of the mountain - 2914m) a.s.l. It looks like a big pyramid with 400m high northern vertical wall. The peak is object of winter alpinism. Vihren is the last peak of Karst part of the mountain. The kingdom of the water and the glacier lakes begins after it. Several glacier circuses follow from both sides of the ridge. And, every one hides three-four lakes. Some of them even more. Each circus has its own look - one is full with stones while another is level and ready for sun-bathes.
Stara Planin a mountain is located in the middle of the country, well famous as “ Balkan “ and from hire is origin the name of Balkan penimsula. . It separates the country in two parts, stretching form its western border to the Black sea. It's long ridge is from West border of Bulgaria to the Black sea to the East. Highest peak is Botev peak (2376 meters , a.s.l.) and is almost in geographical center of Bulgaria. One can see more than half of territory of the country. Another significant peaks in this mountain are Zhultec, Goljam Kupen (2169m a.s.l.) Ambarica, Vezen (2198 m a.s.l). In the very west on the ridge are Kom (2016m a.s.l), Midzhur. Many waterfalls are nearby Botev peak - (Raisko pruskalo, Vidimsko pruskalo, Dzhendemsko pruskalo).
